A Conversion Memory

A few nights ago, I was thinking about prayer and how I learned to pray. I had been attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for several months. Our family lived in Eugene, Oregon and a youth conference was going to be held in Portland. That was the location of the stake center. My friend and I (both of us nonmembers) were assigned to stay at the Stake President's home. Brother Curtis, who was on the general board of the Young Men's also stayed in their home. We gathered around the table for breakfast and they knelt to pray. I had never witnessed anyone kneeling in family prayer so this was a new concept for me. That morning I learned by example and felt the spirit. The youth conference touched me and gave me an increased desire to be baptized. My friend and I were both baptized on July 2, 1950. I am so thankful for this important decision that changed the direction of my life.
